private lessons + ongoing classes
What happens in a lesson?
A typical lesson is 45-60 minutes and includes chair and table work. The student receives gentle, refined hands-on and verbal guidance from the teacher, and most often moves through simple activities such as sitting, standing and walking. Other activities such as speaking, singing, dancing, etc. may be studied in the lesson, if the student wishes.virtual private lesson bliss

Designed specifically for students ages 65+, 95% of this class takes places in a chair, working within a minimal range of motion for increased sensory awareness, improved strength, mobility and coordination, and a dynamic sense of balance through the whole body. Movements can easily be adapted to lying down or standing.
Experience movement with ease while applying the principles of the Alexander Technique. This extended session on the floor invites students to practice gentle movement through the lens of the AT, focusing on breath, dynamic balance and optimal coordination through the whole mind body. Movement structures and patterns are drawn from such practices as Bartenieff Fundamentals, Yoga, and various Dance Techniques. Bring a small softcover book or two to support your head, and a yoga mat if you’d like.
In this Alexander Technique class for dancers we will investigate allowing form to move through us. Class includes an extended session on the floor to provide a framework for experiencing optimal breathing, awareness and undoing of habit, increased coordination, and movement with ease. Movements drawn from Alexander Technique, Bartenieff Fundamentals, Open Focus Theory and Dance Technique will develop conscious awareness for more poise and potential in dancing. With an integrated sensory awareness and 3-dimensionality, we will apply dance forms to ourselves. We will notice resistance and ease as we allow ourselves to be supported by the ground and our 3-D-ness for alert, easy, powerful dancing.
