small spirals

So…full disclosure…i had a back spasm the other morning. i could share more with you about that story but instead let’s talk about a way through…

if your back/neck is hurting, sometimes some gentle spirals (that include intention) can do tons to add length and get above or below the pain/stress/tension/stuckness… not to mention the sensory awareness that has an opportunity to really engage and redirect the nervous system a bit.

sitting or standing. ease in all joints. receive the support through gravity. sense the back of your body…head, shoulders, ribs, pelvis, knees, heels and let it have width. allow yourself to breathe and notice the room. now just move the eyes a bit, allowing what you see to come to you. go slowly. now add a small nod no, letting the eyes initiate, moving along your horizon a tiny amount. an inch is enough. as much or as little as feels good for you right now. let your weight release onto the chair or floor. let your horizon line move a little higher if it wants to. let yourself stay easy as you breathe.

what do you notice?
